On March 24, Vinh Long Provincial Department of Health organized a ceremony to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Vietnam Social Work Day (March 25, 2016 – March 25, 2026), to honor the team of social workers with many silent contributions, contributing to spreading the spirit of compassion in the community.
At the program, delegates reviewed the development journey, and also participated in an exchange with the theme "A Story from the Heart", thereby clarifying the journey, achievements and development orientations of social work in the current period.
Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of Vinh Long Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Be Muoi acknowledged and praised the efforts of the social work team, and at the same time requested sectors to continue to raise awareness, build a professional and dedicated team that meets practical requirements.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Be Muoi also emphasized that it is necessary to strengthen inter-sectoral coordination, promote training and fostering, and gradually standardize social work forces; promote the role of connecting and effectively supporting vulnerable groups in the social security system.
According to Director of Vinh Long Department of Health Ho Thi Thu Hang, after 10 years, the whole province has built a network of about 850 social workers; there are 4 public support facilities, 17 non-public facilities, taking care of more than 1,800 vulnerable people.
Currently, 100% of medical facilities in the area have social work departments, which have supported over 20,000 patients and their families; 100% of communes and wards have officials in charge and more than 2,400 collaborators, contributing to building a sustainable social security system.
On this occasion, the Organizing Committee awarded scholarships to 20 children in difficult circumstances, commended typical individuals in 2025, and signed cooperation agreements with universities to improve the quality of social work human resources in the coming time.
