According to the People's Committee of An Giang province, localities are currently continuing to implement tasks and solutions to combat illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing according to the direction of the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister - Head of the National Steering Committee on IUU. The province has completed 18/19 tasks (94.7%) above assigned, with 1 task still being carried out.
As of November 14, 2025, the total number of fishing vessels in the localities is 9,789. Of which, 9,789/9,789 fishing vessels have been registered and updated to Vnfishbase (accounting for 100%); fishing vessels are not eligible to register 36 vessels (controiled).
The licensed fishing vessels are 9,061/9,061 fishing vessels (reaching 100%). 223 fishing vessels are not eligible for granting or renewing licenses (accounting for 2.28%).

Sending a message to the ship owner requesting strict compliance with Vietnamese and regional laws, not sending fishing vessels to illegally exploit aquatic products in foreign waters.

The Provincial People's Committee said that the province has issued documents specifying all documents directing the fight against IUU fishing of the Secretariat, Government, Prime Minister, conclusions of the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister, National Steering Committee on combating IUU fishing, Ministry of Agriculture and Environment.
