8-year-old child has stroke while studying, doctors warn of adults' mistakes

108 Central Military Hospital has continuously received many cases of stroke in children and adolescents, including children as young as 8 years old.

Baby D.K (born in 2017, Hanoi) suddenly fell to the table while studying, appearing weak in the left hemisphere - a manifestation of a short-lived local anemia. Fortunately, teachers and friends discovered it in time and quickly notified the family to take the baby to the hospital.

CTA results showed that the child had a cerebral infarction due to a section of the right mediastinal cerebral artery, a rare condition in young children. The child underwent emergency intervention with a stent and a stent to re-com supply blood vessels. Thanks to being taken to the hospital early and treated promptly, the patient has recovered almost completely, leaving no neurological sequelae.

Another case is T.Q (born in 2011, in Ninh Binh). About 10 days before being hospitalized, Q had a severe headache and fainted at the commune health station, took medicine and then woke up. However, the headaches continued to recur. At first, the family thought the child was only having a cold, but to be assured, they took him to the hospital for a check-up. CTA results showed Q suffering from minor brain hemorrhage due to a motor - vein - deformed aperture of the right extended coronary artery.

After consultation, the doctors performed intervention with deformed button and duodenal package. Currently, Q's health has fully recovered.

Currently, the Neurological Institute is treating 4 pediatric patients aged 816 at the same time, showing that the risk of rejuvenation of this dangerous disease is at an alarming level.

Dr. Nguyen Van Tuyen said that although stroke in children is rare, it is increasing significantly in young people under the age of 45. In 2025, at the Department of Stroke, 1015% of patients will be young people, mainly due to cerebral infarction and cerebral hemorrhage. In children, cerebral infarction is often caused by a section of the arteries (3050% of cases), which can occur after strenuous exercise, sudden collision, neck torsion or inflammation, which is very dangerous.

Stroke is a race against time: Intermittent effectiveness of huyetodegeneration in the first 34.5 hours, blood clotting intervention in the first 6 hours. However, you should not wait for the "golden hour" to go to the emergency room because being late will reduce your ability to survive and recover.

Stroke in children is easily overlooked due to unusual symptoms such as severe headaches, weakness, blurred vision, difficulty speaking, sudden twitching, collapse... Many families are subjective, causing children to lose the opportunity for timely treatment.

Dr. Nguyen Van Cuong emphasized that there is currently no absolute prevention of stroke in children, but early detection is the most important factor. The vigilance of the family, school and community determines the effectiveness of diagnosis, treatment and survival opportunities of children.
