Can Tho City People's Committee has just issued a Report on the direction and management of the City People's Committee; socio-economic situation in April, the first 4 months of the year and key tasks in May 2025.
In 4 months of 2025, the new city registered for business for 773 enterprises of all kinds with a total registered capital of more than 4.39 trillion dong, up 31.91% in the number of businesses and an increase of 11.07% in capital compared to the same period, reaching 40.68% of the plan on the number of businesses and reaching 30.3% on capital plan.
The total number of enterprises voluntarily dissolved was 53 enterprises, down 23.19% over the same period; registered to temporarily suspend operations of 660 enterprises, up 18.07% over the same period and registered to resume operations of 281 enterprises, up 40.5% over the same period.
In April 2025, attracting domestic investment (outside industrial parks) of the city has not had a new project, adjusting 1 project from domestic to foreign. As of the reporting time, there are currently 93 projects in the city approved by the City People's Committee for investment policies that are being implemented, with a total area of about 1,913.98 hectares.
Regarding foreign direct investment (FDI), April. In 2025, the city has not attracted new projects; adjusted 1 project from domestic to foreign ( AEON Mall Can Tho, with a registered capital of 216,129,678 USD 100% of Japan); terminated 1 project (V Ceramic Can Tho - Cua Hang Ban Le with a registered capital of 392,758 USD (60% of Thailand, 40% of Vietnam)".
To date, the city currently has 78 foreign direct investment projects with a total registered investment capital of about 2,434.18 million USD. In the industrial park of 28 projects, the total registered capital is 611.07 million USD; outside the industrial park of 50 projects, the total registered capital is 1,823.11 million USD.
The total revenue of enterprises operating in industrial parks in Can Tho city in April 2025 was 177.9 million USD, down 4% over the same period in 2024. The total number of workers working in Can Tho industrial parks by April 2025 is 44,872 workers, an increase of 2,804 workers over the same period in 2024. Of which, the number of employees of FDI enterprises is 22,535.
In the first 4 months of 2025, the city has created jobs for 25,215 workers (377 people) (for workers going to work abroad), reaching 49.73% of the plan, an increase of 18% over the same period in 2024.
