Vietnam's livestock industry is continuing to affirm its role as an important pillar of agriculture, with increasing scale and constantly improving production capacity. Currently, Vietnam is in the group of countries with developed livestock industries, meat, egg, and milk production increases steadily, not only meeting domestic demand but also gradually participating in exports.
In 2025, the industry maintained stable growth, basically ensuring the supply of essential food, contributing to socio-economic stability, inflation control and strengthening food security.
At the press conference on April 24 about the ILDEX Vietnam 2026 and Horti&Agri Vietnam 2026 Exhibition, Mr. Pham Kim Dang - Deputy Director of the Department of Livestock and Veterinary Medicine (Ministry of Agriculture and Environment) - said that with the direction of the Government and the efforts of people and businesses, the agricultural sector has made comprehensive progress. In which, livestock is increasingly affirming its position by actively contributing to economic growth, ensuring social security and market stability.
Despite many limitations in area and population pressure, the livestock industry has strongly shifted from small-scale to concentrated, commodity production, thereby improving competitiveness and gradually making a mark on the world map. However, the industry still faces many challenges such as complicated epidemics, high production costs, fierce competition and increasingly strict requirements on quality, food safety, traceability, and environmental protection.
In that context, promoting the application of science and technology, digital transformation, value chain development and production optimization to reduce costs has become an urgent requirement. 2026 is identified as a pivotal year, opening up an important transition phase towards transparency, efficiency and sustainability, associated with innovation and international integration.

Specialized exhibitions are expected to play an important role in this process. Not only is it a place to display products and technologies, but it is also a forum connecting management agencies, scientists and domestic and foreign businesses, contributing to spreading knowledge, promoting innovation and expanding cooperation and investment opportunities.
This year, the exhibition has a scale of more than 250 businesses from over 25 countries and territories, expected to attract nearly 10,000 visitors in three days (May 20-22). This is proof of the attractiveness of the Vietnamese livestock market as well as the potential for international cooperation.
According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Son - Chairman of the Vietnam Poultry Association, when entering the era of innovation and artificial intelligence, the livestock industry is facing pivotal choices. The industry is not only shifting from "raising a lot" to "raising well", from "increasing flocks" to "increasing value", but also must put responsibility for the environment, food safety and traceability first.
The highlight at the exhibition is the Vietnam Pavilion - a national booth that is being implemented for the first time at an international fair held in Vietnam. This model is expected to become a common representative space for domestic businesses, strengthening links and promoting the image of the livestock industry comprehensively.
