Farmers discover rare yellow shrimp after 20 years of shrimp farming

PHƯƠNG ANH |

Can Tho - Mr. Trinh Van Hieu (46 years old, Khanh Hoa ward) when going to the pond to look for whiteleg shrimp suddenly discovered a shrimp that was yellow like turmeric.

The yellow shrimp raised by Mr. Hieu with the herd is 64 days old, currently reaching a size of about 50 shrimp/kg.

I have been raising shrimp for more than 20 years, this is the first time I have discovered a yellow shrimp. Many people advised me to catch this shrimp to raise for decoration, but I did not agree and continued to release it into the pond for good luck" - Mr. Hieu shared.

According to Mr. Hieu, the price of 50 shrimp/kg is currently only about 103,000 VND/kg, a fairly low price, so the family has not harvested yet but continues to raise shrimp to wait for them to grow larger.

More than half a month earlier, while visiting ponds ( tools for catching shrimp and fish) serving whiteleg shrimp farming, Mr. Hieu also caught 2 large-sized black tiger shrimp.

Each one weighs about 150 grams, nearly 30 cm long. This is the number of shrimp he raised "for fun" nearly a year ago.

Shrimp size under 10 shrimp/kg is currently bought by small traders outside the market for about 350,000 VND/kg, so I sell these 2'huge' shrimp for more than 100,000 VND" - Mr. Hieu said.
