Saint-Gobain Vietnam announces achieving the Zero Carbon target - Carbon-free production (Scope 1&2) for the DURAflex fiber cement sheet factory in Quang Tri.

On April 7, at the Build to Last 2026 event, Saint-Gobain Vietnam announced that it became the first enterprise in the industry to conquer this breakthrough achievement.

In this pioneering project, the DURAflex plant has switched from a diesel-fueled boiler to a biomass boiler, operating entirely from renewable energy sources that have achieved the International Renewable Energy Certificate (IRECs). Thanks to this, the plant completely eliminates CO2 emissions in Scope 1 and 2, consolidating Saint-Gobain Vietnam's leading position in the field of low-emission production in Vietnam and Asia.

The project will be completed in December 2025, including replacing the diesel boiler with a biomass boiler - using fuel from sustainable agricultural by-products in the locality (wood chip, rice husks and ground bark). The plant also switches to using 100% renewable electricity through IRECs, ensuring that all electricity for production comes from clean energy sources.

Saint-Gobain Vietnam's above efforts demonstrate the Group's strong commitment to promoting the construction industry and industry to reduce carbon emissions, meeting the increasing demand for sustainable and high-efficiency material solutions in the domestic market. The energy structure - 100% biomass heat and 100% renewable electricity - also makes the factory a model for Zero Carbon production in Asia.

Mr. Ludovic Weber - General Director of Saint-Gobain Asia affirmed: "Vietnam has always been a strategic market for Saint-Gobain. The milestone of achieving Zero Carbon Scope 1 and 2 shows that Vietnam is leading the trend of light and sustainable construction, while creating a foundation for low-carbon production innovation throughout the region.

Mr. Nguyen Truong Hai - General Director of Saint-Gobain Vietnam emphasized: "The milestone of the DURAflex fiber cement sheet factory reaching Zero Carbon is also a clear demonstration of how Saint-Gobain Vietnam always strives to turn sustainable commitments into specific actions and practical impacts. We will constantly be pioneers in bringing high-efficiency and low-emission solutions, contributing to promoting the sustainable construction transition process in Vietnam and globally.
