Applying digital solutions to solve the income problem for freelance female workers

Thanks to the technology platform, the domestic helper profession has been professionalized, bringing stable income to tens of thousands of female workers.

According to a report by Challenger, Gray & Christmas, 2025 recorded the highest rate of layoffs since 2020, approaching the peak of the global financial crisis in 2008. The boom of technology and AI has created more than 54,836 personnel cuts plans worldwide. In Vietnam, in 2016, the domestic helper profession faced many strict prejudices and had very precarious incomes. Faced with fluctuations in the labor market, technology platforms have opened up new directions for freelance workers. Typically, bTaskee applies digital solutions to promote the professionalization of the domestic helper profession, bringing stable incomes, and gradually changing social perceptions of this job.

When she first entered the profession, Ms. Kim Ly was self-conscious about her cleaning work. After working at bTaskee, that prejudice disappeared, giving way to love and pride in the profession. Ms. Ly said that receiving schedules through the application helps her to be proactive in taking care of her family in the evening, and can turn off the app when busy without being constrained. In particular, she feels more respected than before. Unlike the traditional model of doing all kinds of big and small jobs and looking at the face of the owner to live, now she only does specific tasks and is paid in shifts clearly.

Thanks to flexible schedules, I receive many shifts during Tet holidays to increase income. I also consider my health and workplace to provide the best service," she said.

Ms. Ngoc Hanh, a long-time collaborator at bTaskee, also improved her quality of life thanks to a stable income and flexible time to take care of her family. In addition, Ms. Hanh also expressed absolute peace of mind with the bHappy policy, a occupational accident insurance regime specifically for the collaborators of this platform.

At bTaskee, the unit has realized the goal of optimizing benefits for workers by persistently maintaining a service fee of 20%. This is considered the lowest figure on the market today. Thanks to the support from technology, the average income of house cleaners has increased 2.5 times compared to the traditional brokerage model. This solution helps tens of thousands of vulnerable female workers in more than 20 provinces and cities stabilize their livelihoods, contributing to reducing the burden of social security.

This platform focuses on enhancing the position and value of workers, female workers are completely proactive in receiving schedules, operating according to transparent procedures and participating in skills training courses. Fundamental changes in operating methods help eliminate prejudices from employers, from doing dependent jobs, they are recognized and respected by society and confidently attached to the profession.

In the report "Economic power of women in small businesses and domestic helpers in the field of employment", Dr. Nguyen Thi Phuong Hoa (Institute of Sociology and Psychology) said that nearly 39.8% of female freelancers have higher incomes than their husbands and 27.8% are equal.

The above figure shows that freelance female workers today can completely achieve high incomes when they have a wealth of expertise and experience. The core of the change lies in the strict recruitment process. Strict recruitment processes include medical records, practical skills tests and formal attitude training. This standardization helps eliminate homeowners' skepticism, laying the foundation for trust, which is always absent in the traditional domestic help model.
