On the afternoon of April 13, in Nghia Thai commune (Nam Dan district, Nghe An province), a drowning occurred, causing two students to be siblings in a family died.
According to information from Ms. Le Thi Huong - Chairman of Nghia Thai Commune People's Committee, about 16:00 on the same day, 4 children residing in Hong Son hamlet invited each other to the lake area behind Nam Thai Primary School (the old facility stopped using) to have fun. While playing near the edge of the lake, the two children in the group unfortunately slipped, fell into the deep water and sinking shortly after because they could not swim.
Discovering the incident, the remaining 2 children ran back to the adult newspaper. People and local authorities quickly come to the scene, organize search. About 15 minutes later, 2 victims were picked up but died.
The identity of the victims was identified as two siblings: the younger brother was in grade 1 and his brother was in grade 6 at schools in Nghia Thai commune.
Immediately after the incident, the local authorities sent a mission to visit and share the pain of loss with the family, and at the same time support the funding for the two children.
Nghia Thai commune government also cooperates with schools in the area to urgently implement the propaganda and raise awareness for students and parents about drowning prevention, especially when the weather is hot and summer is approaching.
The sudden departure of the two brothers continues to be a wake -up scene about the need for control of areas that are dangerous for children, as well as enhance life skills and swimming skills in the school.
