Vietnamese football tournament in Japan joins hands to help people in flood-hit areas

The Vietnamese grassroots football tournament in Japan raised 60 million VND to support people affected by storm No. 3 Yagi.

Responding to the call of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF), on September 15, in Japan, two football tournaments were held simultaneously for the Vietnamese community in the North and South, to raise funds to help people in the Northern provinces who are severely affected by Typhoon No. 3 Yagi.

The tournaments are organized by the Vietnam-Japan International Exchange Organization (FAVIJA), under the auspices of the Vietnamese Embassy in Tokyo and the Vietnamese Consulate General in Fukuoka, Japan.

The tournament has the participation of 32 teams of Vietnamese amateur players studying, working and living in the Chubu and Kyushu regions of Japan.

Ms. Vu Chi Mai - Consul General of Vietnam in Fukuoka, Japan said: "Sports activities always play an important role in building and strengthening community relationships. Football, like many other sports, is not only a playground for people to show their talents and passion, but also an opportunity to connect and build solidarity.

This football tournament is not just about matches on the field, but also has a noble purpose of raising funds to support our compatriots in overcoming the consequences of storm No. 3. The contribution of the Vietnamese community in Japan will send a message about humanity, compassion, empathy, and the traditions of the Vietnamese people."

In addition to receiving donations directly at the stadium, the organizing committee also provides support receiving account information of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front to the Vietnamese community, especially Vietnamese businesses and entrepreneurs in Japan.

At the end of the tournament held in Fukuroi city, Shizuoka province (Japan), the organizers raised 189,000 Yen (equivalent to 33 million VND) in cash.

At the tournament held in Kitakyushu city, Fukuoka province, the organizers raised 157,500 Yen (equivalent to 27 million VND).

In addition to football tournaments, FAVIJA will collect contributions from badminton and karate tournaments, and affiliated member associations and send them back to the country through the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese - Ministry of Foreign Affairs on September 18.

In terms of expertise, the FAVIJA CHUBU Cup championship belonged to T-Connect team; Runner-up belonged to FC Nghe Tinh Shizuoka and the two third-place teams were FC Thanh Hoa and FC Kakegawa.

As for the FAVIJA KYUSHU Cup, the championship belongs to FC Ha Tinh; the runner-up is FC Nghe An and the two third-place teams are FC Bac Giang and FC Nghe Tinh Fukuoka.
