Attracting young people
In the minds of many people, the livestock industry was once associated with the image of manual barns and hard work. However, along with the development of high-tech agriculture, this field is changing strongly, becoming a major attracting many young people thanks to diverse job opportunities and increasingly modern working environments.
Many students choose to study Animal Husbandry not only because they love animals but also see the potential for career development in the future. Vu Dinh Chien - a student majoring in Animal Husbandry, Vietnam National University of Agriculture - said that job opportunities in the industry are currently very open. After graduation, students can take on many different positions such as farm manager, technician, animal feed manager or animal health care.
To pursue this major, I must actively learn about the field I study, cultivate knowledge and skills to meet the needs of businesses today" - Chien shared.
No longer simply a traditional pet care job, the livestock industry today is associated with technology, automation and modern production processes. This is also the reason why many young people are more interested in this field.
Great development opportunity
Representatives of the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Environment shared at the Conference on developing the livestock industry according to the sustainable value chain in 2026, the implementation of 02-level government, many tasks in state management of veterinary medicine are decentralized to commune-level People's Committees; however, commune-level specialized agencies still lack human resources with professional qualifications in livestock and veterinary medicine.
On the side of businesses, it is assessed that the income level of students graduating in Animal Husbandry is attractive compared to many other fields. Mr. Bui Tien Quyet - Deputy Business Director, Duc Hanh Marphavet BMG Group - said that graduates can work in many positions such as farm technicians, market business staff, technical consultants or production managers.
The industry's current income ranges from about 15 million VND to 60 million VND per month, and may even be higher depending on capacity and job position" - Mr. Quyet shared.
According to businesses, what they are looking for is not only professional knowledge but also practical skills, adaptability to modern working environments and the proactive learning spirit of new graduates.
In the context of the agricultural sector strongly shifting towards modernity and sustainability, animal husbandry is considered a potential field for young people who love technology, modern production environments and want to stick with agriculture in the future.
