On July 18, Nam Gia Nghia Ward Police (Lam Dong province) said that the unit had just coordinated with Gia Nghia Forest Protection Department and Ta Dung National Park Management Board to re-release a golden monkey to its natural environment after receiving it from people.
Previously, Mr. Phan Van Chuong's family (born 1987, residing in residential group 8, Nam Gia Nghia ward) discovered a monkey individual appearing near the residential area.
Realizing that this was a wild animal, the family proactively contacted and handed it over to the Ward Police.
After receiving it, Nam Gia Nghia Ward Police coordinated with Gia Nghia Forest Protection Department to inspect and determined that this was a golden monkey belonging to the group of endangered, precious, and rare forest animals.
Through inspection, the monkey was in good health, so functional forces completed the procedures according to regulations and handed it over to the Ta Dung National Park Management Board for re-release to the natural environment.
According to Nam Gia Nghia Ward Police, from the beginning of the year to now, the unit has received 3 wild animal individuals voluntarily handed over by people.
All are checked and assessed by specialized agencies for health status before deciding to re-release or rescue according to regulations.
Functional forces assess that people's proactive handover of wild animals contributes to preventing illegal hunting, captivation, and trading; and at the same time improves the effectiveness of biodiversity conservation.
