Torrential rain and thunderstorms kill 4 people, thousands of houses damaged
Hailstorms accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning occurred on March 29-30 in many northern provinces and cities.
The Department of Dyke Management and Disaster Prevention and Control said that, according to quick reports from localities including Lao Cai, Cao Bang, Quang Ninh, Lang Son, Tuyen Quang, Phu Tho, Thai Nguyen, Son La and Hanoi, the natural disaster and hail that occurred in the past 2 days has caused heavy damage to people, housing, agricultural production and people's infrastructure.
Regarding people, natural disasters caused 4 deaths. Among them, Tuyen Quang had 1 death due to lightning strikes, Quang Ninh had 2 deaths due to thunderstorms overturning boats, Son La had 1 death due to lightning strikes. There were 9 injured people, including Lao Cai 6 people, Lang Son 1 person, Thai Nguyen 1 person and Hanoi 1 person.

Red River dries up, foot of Phu Tho - Hanoi bridge reveals rare scene

The water level of the Red River section passing through Van Lang bridge area has dropped low, many bridge piers seem to be buried in sand pits.
For many months, the water level of the Thao River (the main stream of the Red River) through Lao Cai, Phu Tho provinces, and the Red River through Phu Tho, Hanoi has been low.
According to records of Lao Dong Newspaper reporters in the last days of March 2026, the river water is shallow, many sections of the river have narrow flows, at first glance as if walking through; alluvial grounds and sand dunes are rising everywhere.

Vietnam will have at least 10,000 in-depth cybersecurity experts. 100% of the specialized forces protecting cybersecurity are stationed at the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of National Defense.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh signed Decision No. 515/QD-TTg dated March 30, 2026 approving the Project "Improving the operational capacity of the national network security protection force".
The goal by 2030 is for Vietnam to be in the top 15 leading countries in the world according to the Global Cyber Security Index (ITU-GCI); forming and developing regional training centers on cybercrime prevention and cybersecurity in Vietnam to enhance its position and leadership capacity in the region.
Striving to 2030, Vietnam will have at least 10,000 in-depth cybersecurity experts, of which 20% will reach international level.
