Ho Chi Minh City officially deploys free textbooks
Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has just issued a Plan to implement the policy of free general education textbooks in the area in 2026.
Accordingly, textbooks are purchased and organized by the state budget for students to borrow and use during the school year, and then returned to the school library to continue serving other students.
The plan applies to general education students, learners at public and private educational institutions implementing education programs issued by the Ministry of Education and Training, including the General Education Program, the Continuing Education Program for secondary and high school levels, and the Illiteracy Eradication Program in the City.

Lien Khuong airport welcomes 28 flights on its reopening day
On August 18, Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) announced that it will organize the inauguration of the project to repair the runway and taxiway of Lien Khuong International Airport on the morning of August 19.
This is a milestone in restoring all aviation operations at Lien Khuong airport after the airport was temporarily suspended for 5 months to serve construction.
In the initial phase of resuming operation, the airport is expected to reach a frequency of 36-40 flights/day, serving about 6,800 passengers/day.
It is expected that in the last 4 months of 2026, the number of passengers through the airport will reach about 816,000.

Nearly 58km of expressway connecting the Southwest region with Long Thanh airport is about to open to traffic
On the afternoon of August 18, in an exchange with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Dang Huu Vi - Deputy Director of the Southern Expressway Project Management Board (SEPMU), under Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC) said: The Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway Project is being accelerated in construction progress to strive to open the entire route to traffic and put it into operation in September 2026.
Currently, the construction output of construction packages of the Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway project has reached about 99% of the contract value. Nearly 55km of the total length of the route (nearly 58km) has been completed. Of which, nearly 30km has been put into temporary operation, about 25km has been completed but has not been put into operation due to waiting for traffic connection.
