Ho Chi Minh City completes 9 flood control projects in 2026
Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has just issued the 2026 drainage and flood control plan. According to the plan, this year, Ho Chi Minh City will complete 9 flood control and drainage projects with a total capital of over 7,100 billion VND. These projects are expected to handle 3 out of a total of 50 severe flooding points in the city (submerged from 30 cm or more, lasting over 30 minutes).
In the old Ho Chi Minh City area, the city will complete 3 projects with a total investment of about 1,342 billion VND, contributing to handling two flooding points on Phan Van Hon and Binh Quoi streets.
In which, three landslide prevention projects on Thanh Da peninsula will be completed, including: section 2 (Saigon Domaine hotel area), section 3 (Binh Quoi - Cay Bang - Rach Chua) and section 4 (from Ly Hoang villa to La San Mai Thon church).

Thanh Hoa identifies 3 more martyrs by DNA
On July 27, information from functional agencies of Thanh Hoa province said that the locality had just had 3 more martyrs whose identities were accurately identified through DNA comparison from biological samples of relatives.

The martyrs include: Le Bat Quyet, from Tan Ninh commune; Dang Cong Ne, from Hop Tien commune and Nguyen Cong Tuan, from Trieu Son commune. All three martyrs were enlisted in the resistance war against the US for national salvation and bravely sacrificed on the southern battlefield.
Accordingly, the DNA sample of Mr. Nguyen Tang Tha - uncle of martyr Nguyen Cong Tuan - has helped specialized agencies compare and accurately identify the grandson who sacrificed.
The above results raised the total number of martyrs from Thanh Hoa who were identified by DNA testing to 11 cases.

Da Nang plans to spend 1,000 billion VND, relocate more than 6,200 households out of disaster-stricken areas
According to the city's review, in the period 2026-2030, Da Nang has about 6,282 households that need to be arranged and resettled to prevent natural disasters. The city plans to build and complete about 234 concentrated, interspersed or stable resettlement areas and points on the spot.
In the mountainous area alone, there are about 4,474 households that need to be arranged in 117 residential areas and points. In the delta and midland areas, there are about 1,808 households that need to be arranged in 117 other areas and points.
To implement this plan, Da Nang is expected to allocate about 1,000 billion VND from the city budget in the period 2026-2030, an average of 200 billion VND per year. The capital will be used to support the relocation of people and property, building materials, leveling ground, residential land, production land, clean water, domestic electricity and people's roads.
