Thanh Hoa - 3 martyrs from Thanh Hoa province have just been identified through DNA testing, bringing the total number of cases to 11.

On July 27, information from functional agencies of Thanh Hoa province said that the locality had just had 3 more martyrs whose identities were accurately identified through DNA comparison from biological samples of relatives.

The martyrs include: Le Bat Quyet, from Tan Ninh commune; Dang Cong Ne, from Hop Tien commune and Nguyen Cong Tuan, from Trieu Son commune. All three martyrs were enlisted in the resistance war against the US for national salvation and bravely sacrificed on the southern battlefield.

Accordingly, the DNA sample of Mr. Nguyen Tang Tha - uncle of martyr Nguyen Cong Tuan - has helped specialized agencies compare and accurately identify the grandson who sacrificed.

The above results raised the total number of martyrs from Thanh Hoa who were identified by DNA testing to 11 cases.

Identity identification is carried out by comparing biological samples of relatives with the DNA database of martyrs whose information has not been identified. This is an important scientific basis for accurately identifying identities, completing dossiers and meeting the long-standing aspirations of martyr families.

Over the past time, Thanh Hoa Provincial Police have coordinated with functional agencies, local authorities and commune-level police forces to review information, verify relatives, and organize the collection of biological samples throughout the province.

To date, Thanh Hoa has collected more than 41,000 DNA samples of relatives of unidentified martyrs, creating a source of data to serve the search, comparison and identification of martyrs.

The continued expansion of the DNA database is expected to help more martyrs be identified, contributing to bringing them back to their families and homeland and effectively implementing gratitude work.
