On May 23, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports organized a launching ceremony for the entire population to practice swimming and prevent drowning in 2026, with the participation of representatives of the Department of Education and Training, the Ho Chi Minh City Aquatic Sports Federation and related units.
The launching ceremony attracted about 2,000 people who are students, athletes and a large number of people in Ho Chi Minh City to participate.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports, the activity is organized to respond to the Action Month for Children in 2026, and at the same time raise community awareness about safety skills in the water environment, reducing drowning accidents in children. The program not only contributes to spreading the swimming movement in the community but also aims to equip children, students and youth with necessary life skills.

In the coming time, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports will continue to coordinate with localities, schools, and related units to promote swimming universalization, organize many activities to guide safety skills in the water environment to raise awareness and skills in preventing drowning for children.
At the program, many practical activities were also organized, attracting many young people to enthusiastically participate such as: guiding how to wear life jackets correctly, safe indirect drowning rescue skills, first aid and practicing drowning prevention skills; organizing propaganda on self-protection skills in the water environment.
