Stage 1 of the SEA V.League 2026 men's volleyball tournament officially kicks off today (July 15).
The Vietnamese men's volleyball team will open with a confrontation with Thailand at 1:00 PM on July 15. This is considered the highlight match right on the opening day as the two teams have always been fiercely competing in the regional arena for many years.
Thailand is still one of the top candidates for the championship thanks to its experienced force and stable playing style. Meanwhile, the Vietnamese team aims for a positive performance against a strong opponent to create an advantage in the ranking race in the first leg.
This competition is also an opportunity for the coaching staff to assess the ability to operate the squad before the next matches. If they get a favorable result against Thailand, coach Federico Rampazzo's team will have more motivation in the journey to compete for the leading group.
In the remaining match of the day, the Philippines will meet Cambodia at 4:30 PM. This is a match predicted to be more balanced as both set a goal to improve their positions at this year's tournament.
The Philippines is still rated slightly higher thanks to its advantage in experience and balanced forces, but Cambodia has also shown many positive signs in recent times.
