Before the last round of the group stage, Thep Xanh Nam Dinh club led Group B with 12 points, 2 points more than Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) and both have secured a ticket to the next round. The confrontation at Thien Truong Stadium is meant to determine the top spot in the group.
The match ended in a 1-1 draw. Nam Dinh opened the scoring from a penalty in the first half, and JDT equalized at the end of the second half also with a penalty.
With the top spot in the group, Nam Dinh will face Selangor (Malaysia) - the team ranked second in Group A at the C1 Southeast Asian Cup semi-finals 2025-2026. In the remaining match, JDT will face Buriram United (Thailand) - the defending champion of the tournament and also the team ranked first in Group A.
Both semi-final pairs are assessed as having a balance in both force and expertise. Notably, all 4 participating teams are unbeaten in the group stage.
According to the schedule, the semi-final matches of the C1 Southeast Asian Cup 2025-2026 will take place in a round-robin format.
Nam Dinh Club will be guests at Selangor's stadium on May 6, before returning to Thien Truong home ground to play the second leg on May 13.
Meanwhile, JDT also played at the same time as the first leg at home against Buriram United.
The C1 Southeast Asian Cup final will be held on May 20 and May 27.
The tournament does not apply the away goals rule; if the two teams draw after two legs, extra time and penalty shootouts will be used to determine the winner.
