On January 29, Tan Son Nhat International Airport announced the strengthening of measures to prevent and control Nipah virus diseases to protect the health of aviation staff and passengers. Accordingly, the Airport requests airlines and ground service units to strictly implement the guidance of the Ministry of Health and the Ho Chi Minh City Center for Disease Control (HCDC).
Accordingly, people entering with suspicious signs will be guided to temporary isolation areas for epidemiological check-ups and screening. Suspected cases will be subject to isolation measures and medical treatment according to regulations for group A infectious diseases.
Suspected signs that need special attention include joint pain, headache, vomiting, sore throat; in more severe stages, dizziness, drowsiness, altered consciousness, or acute encephalitis may appear.
The port also recommends that workers and passengers limit going to epidemic areas if not really necessary. People returning from epidemic areas, especially countries like India or Thailand, need to monitor their health for 14 days. If they have symptoms such as headache, vomiting, confusion or convulsions, they need to contact a medical facility immediately, limit contact with others and clearly declare travel history.
To prevent the disease effectively, everyone needs to "eat cooked food, drink boiled water", wash and peel fruits before eating. Absolutely do not eat or drink fruits with signs of being bitten or gnawed by animals such as bats, birds; avoid drinking directly palm tree sap or raw coconut sap that has not been processed.
Avoid close contact with fruit-eating bats and highly contagious animals; always wash your hands with soap or antiseptic solution after contact with animals or when taking care of sick people.
When caring for or treating people suspected of having the disease, it is mandatory to use masks, gloves and personal protective gear. Tan Son Nhat International Airport emphasized that when detecting relatives or colleagues with suspected symptoms, people should proactively contact local medical facilities immediately or call the hotline of the Airport Health Quarantine: 0988.587.009 for support and appropriate and timely handling plans.
