This is an important political event of the entire Association system, taking place in the year of the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam Red Cross Society (November 23, 1946 - November 23, 2026).
The 12th Congress had the theme "Promoting the core role in humanitarian work; innovation, digital transformation, connecting resources; building a strong Association, a safe, self-reliant and sustainable community", with the action motto "Solidarity - Innovation - Professionalism - Self-reliance".
The Congress will summarize the implementation of the Resolution of the 11th Congress; determine the goals, directions, and tasks of the Association's work and the Red Cross movement for the 2026 - 2031 term; review the 11th Central Executive Committee of the Association; consider amending and supplementing the Association's Charter (if any) and elect the 12th Central Executive Committee of the Association.
After nearly four years of implementing the Resolution of the XI Congress, the Association's work and the Red Cross movement have achieved many important results, continuing to affirm its core role, bridge, and coordination in humanitarian work.
The entire Association has mobilized resources reaching over 21,100 billion VND, helping more than 52 million people in difficult and vulnerable circumstances. Many movements, campaigns and key programs such as "Tet of Compassion", "Humanitarian Month", "Safety for poor and disadvantaged fishermen", "Nutrition for poor and disabled children" along with health care, voluntary blood donation, disaster prevention and response activities continue to be effectively implemented, creating a widespread impact in the community.

Entering the new term, the Vietnam Red Cross Society determines to continue to strongly innovate its operating methods, taking the people as the center, taking the community as the foundation, taking digital transformation and innovation as the driving force, and at the same time promoting the role of connecting social resources to improve the effectiveness of humanitarian work.
The Association strives for the total value of humanitarian activities throughout the term to reach 25,000 billion VND or more, assist over 50 million people, build a "Safe Community, Ready for Natural Disasters and Disasters" model in 100% of communes, wards, special zones and promote digital transformation throughout the Association system.
Before entering the first session of the 12th National Congress of the Vietnam Red Cross Society, term 2026 - 2031, on the morning of July 27, the heads of delegations attending the Congress led by Ms. Do Thi Thu Thao - Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society, respectfully offered flowers and incense to commemorate the heroic martyrs at the Monument to the heroic martyrs on Bac Son Street (Hanoi).
On the morning of July 28, the Congress took place in a solemn session, with the participation and directing speeches of Party and State leaders.
