Effectiveness from people-to-people diplomacy activities
On the sidelines of the friendly exchange program, the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the All-China Political Consultative Conference jointly participated in many meaningful activities such as planting the Friendship Tree at Thanh Tu mountain tourist area, Nanning city, Guangxi; attending the Conference to exchange experiences on Front/Party Committee work with contents such as: Supervision and social criticism work; participating in building the Party and government; promoting the people's right to mastery; patriotic campaigns and emulation movements; strengthening the close relationship between the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the Political Consultative Conference of provinces sharing borders; evaluating and summarizing the results of cooperation between the Front and the Political Consultative Conference of provinces sharing borders of the two countries after the second Friendship Exchange activities held in Vietnam in November 2023.
In addition, in 2025, the foreign affairs activities of socio-political organizations left a strong mark on the international stage.
The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor successfully organized the Conference of the Presidium of the World Federation of Trade Unions with the participation of nearly 80 international delegates, from more than 40 national trade union organizations of 36 countries and international industry and trade union organizations directly under the World Federation of Trade Unions. Along with that, trade union levels have implemented many activities to consolidate, maintain, and deepen cooperative, friendly, and traditional relations with trade unions of other countries, and at the same time expand cooperative relations with new partners; actively participate and promote its role in international trade union organizations and multilateral mechanisms to which the Vietnam Trade Union is a member.
The Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union in coordination with the Central Committee of the Communist Youth Union of China organized the "Red Journey of Research and Learning for Youth in 2025" in China. This is an important youth foreign affairs activity, contributing to strengthening understanding, fostering ideals and tightening friendship between the youth of Vietnam and China. The program is implemented with the deep concern of senior leaders of the two Parties and two States, expressing great faith and expectations for the young generation - those who will continue the cause of building, developing and protecting the Fatherland in the new era.
The Vietnam Farmers' Union, the Vietnam Women's Union and the Vietnam Veterans Association continue to implement many foreign affairs and international cooperation activities of strategic significance, contributing to affirming the role, position and vision of the association organization in the new era.
People-to-people diplomacy must necessarily reflect the voices of all classes of people.
At the 75th Anniversary of Traditional Day (November 17, 1950 - November 17, 2025) and the Patriotic Emulation Congress for the period 2025 - 2030 of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations recently, Ms. Bui Thi Minh Hoai - Member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Fatherland Front, Central mass organizations, Chairwoman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front emphasized that people-to-people diplomacy must promote its strengths, closely link "the Party's will with the people's hearts", connecting "the great national unity bloc with noble international solidarity".
People's foreign affairs must make an important contribution together with Party foreign affairs and State diplomacy, continuing to "integrate the multi-layered strength of the nation with the strength of the times" to join the whole country in "building a peaceful, unified, independent, democratic and prosperous Vietnam, making worthy contributions to the cause of world revolution" as directed by General Secretary To Lam in recent times.
Ms. Bui Thi Minh Hoai emphasized that it is necessary to further innovate the content and methods, improve the quality and effectiveness of people-to-people diplomacy activities. People-to-people diplomacy must necessarily reflect the voices of all classes of people. Therefore, it is necessary to focus on bringing people-to-people diplomacy activities to implement at the grassroots level; pay attention to the participation of sectors, genders, especially the young generation, youth, students, pupils...
People-to-people diplomacy activities must be diverse in subjects of implementation, partners, fields of cooperation, content and methods of implementation, not constrained by form or rituals. People-to-people diplomacy needs to be "proactively adapted, breakthrough, creative, practical, and effective".
At the Conference summarizing people-to-people diplomacy work in 2025, orientations and tasks for 2026, Mr. Tran Cam Tu - Member of the Politburo, Standing Secretary of the Secretariat emphasized the great achievements and important contributions of people-to-people diplomacy throughout the country's revolutionary process under the wise leadership of the Party, creatively applying Ho Chi Minh's thought on combining national strength with the strength of the times.
Mr. Tran Cam Tu affirmed that our Party's first official inclusion in the documents of the XIII Congress of the policy of "building a comprehensive and modern diplomacy with three pillars: Party diplomacy, State diplomacy and People's diplomacy" is an important milestone, a new development in thinking about Vietnamese diplomacy.
On behalf of the Politburo and the Secretariat, Mr. Tran Cam Tu praised the Fatherland Front, mass organizations and people's organizations, ministries, departments, and localities for the achievements made in people-to-people diplomacy in 2025 and throughout the past term.
To further promote the role of people-to-people diplomacy in the new period, Mr. Tran Cam Tu raised many solutions, in which he proposed to strongly promote the role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front in leading, directing, orienting and organizing the implementation of people-to-people diplomacy activities; promptly concretize the Party's regulations and the State's laws; remove obstacles, simplify administrative procedures, decentralize authority associated with improving the responsibility of all levels, sectors, localities, agencies, and units.
Along with that, it is necessary to take care of investing in financial and human resources, consolidating a streamlined and effective organizational structure; building a contingent of people's foreign affairs officials with firm political bravery, ethics, professional capacity, foreign languages, science and technology, and digital transformation...
