On July 20, Hung Yen Provincial People's Committee coordinated with the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee (VFF) of the province to organize a meeting to unify the contents of sustainable poverty reduction and elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in the province.
At the meeting, delegates gave opinions on the draft Plan to implement sustainable poverty reduction in 2026 and the period 2026 - 2030; draft Plan to support the removal of temporary and dilapidated houses for poor households, near-poor households, and households in difficult circumstances in 2026; and discussed the coordination mechanism between the Provincial People's Committee, the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and departments, branches, and localities in the implementation process.
According to the draft, the province strives to basically no longer have poor households according to the national multidimensional poverty standard for the period 2022 - 2025 by the end of 2026, and no longer have poor households according to the multidimensional poverty standard for the period 2027 - 2030 by 2030. The plan focuses on solutions for job creation, vocational training, preferential credit, health insurance, education, housing improvement and improving access to basic social services.
Regarding the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in 2026, the province aims to support 100% of eligible households who need to build new or repair houses. Through review, the whole province has 1,612 households eligible for support, including 889 households building new houses, 540 households repairing with the budget and 183 households without housing proposed for support from the "For the Poor" Fund. The total estimated cost is more than 134 billion VND.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Tran Quoc Toan - Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee proposed that departments, branches, and localities accurately review each household group to have appropriate support plans; prioritize creating sustainable livelihoods, vocational training, job creation, and expanding access to policy credit capital. The implementation of the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses must ensure the right subjects, publicity, transparency, and effectively promote socialized resources.
Concluding the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Manh Quyen - Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - requested units to soon complete the plan, accurately review beneficiaries, and prevent duplication or omissions.
At the same time, assigning the Department of Agriculture and Environment to continue to review households in areas at risk of natural disasters, study suitable house models, mobilize more socialized resources and strive to basically complete the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in 2026. Localities need to strengthen inspection, urging, and be determined to complete the sustainable poverty reduction target for the period 2026 - 2030.
