Hue reduces poverty to 1.15% after 5 years of grassroots supervision

The supervision of national target programs in Hue City has achieved many results, contributing to poverty reduction and improving people's lives.

In the period 2021 - 2025, Hue City synchronously implements 3 national target programs including building new rural areas; sustainable poverty reduction; socio-economic development of ethnic minority and mountainous areas.

According to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hue City, the programs are implemented with focus, effectively mobilizing resources from the Central Government, localities and society. Investment resources are focused on essential infrastructure, supporting livelihoods and building production models suitable to the conditions of each locality.

Thanks to the synchronous implementation of policies, people's lives have gradually improved, many livelihood models have been effective, and the poverty rate has decreased to 1.15% by 2025, exceeding the set target.

Notably, in 2024, the old A Luoi district was recognized as having escaped the list of poor districts according to Decision No. 702/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister. This is considered an important milestone.

Along with the implementation of programs, inspection and supervision work is carried out synchronously and methodically. The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hue City coordinates with the City People's Committee to develop a supervision plan for the period 2021 - 2025; departments, branches, and localities proactively inspect and supervise annually.

From 2022 to now, the Fatherland Front at all levels has organized 75 training conferences for more than 6,800 turns of Front officials, People's Inspection Boards and Community Investment Supervision Boards. The whole city has carried out 123 supervision activities with 211 contents; 847 supervisions by the People's Inspection Board; 814 supervisions by the Community Investment Supervision Board; coordinated 180 supervisions with relevant agencies. At the same time, transferred 129 cases of recommendations to competent authorities, of which 108 cases have been answered and handled.

Mr. Nguyen Chi Tai - Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hue City - said that the supervision work is implemented throughout to promptly detect and remove difficulties and obstacles in the implementation of programs.

In 2024 and early 2025 alone, supervision activities continue to be strengthened, ensuring projects are implemented in accordance with objectives and regulations. Notably, Community Investment Supervision Boards in many localities have promoted effectiveness and flexibility in many forms of supervision, mobilizing people's participation through direct reflection and monitoring of investors' compliance with regulations.

One content that is being closely monitored is the North-South high-speed railway project section passing through Hue City, more than 95km long, related to the relocation of more than 8,100 households and the construction of 23 resettlement areas. However, the supervision work still has some limitations...

In the coming time, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hue City determines to continue to innovate the content and methods of supervision in a practical direction, focusing on issues that people are concerned about and directly related to people's rights.

We will continue to promote the supervisory role of the People; and at the same time promote digital transformation, applying the "Digital Front Gate" to receive and promptly handle feedback and recommendations from the people.

In addition, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hue City will focus on improving the quality of social criticism" - Mr. Nguyen Chi Tai said.
