Nghe An receives more than 160 billion VND in flood relief support

Nghe An - After the historic flood caused damage of more than VND 3,800 billion, the province received more than VND 160 billion in money and relief goods.

On the morning of August 21, information from the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee (VFF) of Nghe An province said that as of 4:30 p.m. on August 20, the total amount of money that the whole province had received to register to support relief work after floods was 160.84 billion VND.

Of which, the amount transferred to the provincial Relief Fund account, including cash and transfers, reached 129.3 billion VND. Currently, the commune-level relief fund still holds 16.73 billion VND. The locality received goods converted into currency worth 12.8 billion VND.

All received data are made public and updated daily at 4:30 p.m. on the information portal of the Provincial Fatherland Front.

The support takes place in the context of Nghe An making efforts to overcome the consequences of the historic flood at the end of July 2025. According to statistics from Vinasarcom province, floods have killed 4 people, injured 4 people, and caused an estimated economic loss of more than VND3,800 billion. The whole province had 425 houses buried or washed away, nearly 5,500 houses were deeply damaged, and more than 1,500 houses had their roofs blown off. At one point, 7 communes with 56 villages and more than 24,000 people were isolated for many consecutive days.

The agricultural sector suffered heavy losses with more than 3,300 hectares of rice and crops swept away, tens of thousands of livestock and poultry dead or missing, more than 570 hectares of ponds damaged and 283 fish cages swept away by floodwaters. Infrastructure for transportation, irrigation, schools and health facilities were destroyed in many places.

In particular, National Highway 7 - the main route connecting the lowlands with the mountains - was affected by landslides and prolonged flooding, many points were seriously damaged, causing traffic disruption, posing many potential safety risks.

The Nghe An Provincial Fatherland Front Committee affirmed that all received resources will be made public, updated regularly and daily and promptly allocated to people in affected localities.
