Bridge between the Party, government and people
In recent years, prestigious people in Dak Lak have become an "extended arm" of the grassroots political system. They actively participate in propaganda and mobilization of people to implement the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws.
At the same time, they also participate in mediating complicated cases, fighting against false arguments of hostile forces, contributing to maintaining security and order in villages and hamlets. For example, Mr. Y Ghuih Mlo (born in 1956, Krong Nang commune) - a prestigious person trusted and loved by the local people.
Born and raised in the countryside, Mr. Y Ghuih clearly understands the customs, practices, lifestyle as well as the thoughts and aspirations of the people. Over the years, he has actively participated in activities with branches and unions in the village, contributing to the propaganda and mobilization of people to comply with the Party's policies and the State's laws. Thereby, he mobilized people to eliminate backward customs and not listen to the distorted discourses of hostile forces.
Not only spreading policies and guidelines, prestigious people in localities also help people develop the economy and settle down. Mr. Y Gia Mlo, a prestigious person in Cu M'ta commune (M'Drak district), is a typical case.
Over the years, Mr. Y Gia has guided and helped many young people in the village learn how to grow and care for coffee trees to develop their family economy. Most of the people he supported were young people who had lost their direction to start a business and had no intention of striving.
Mr. Y Gia Mlo shared: " adults often have immature thoughts, are easily instinctive, listen to friends but get lost. Therefore, in addition to correcting my thoughts, I always encourage them to study hard, cultivate and do business honestly. Young people can work for hire, accumulate experience and then think about bigger things. Many children after 5 years of working for hire and learning how to take care of crops and livestock have become independent and borrowed capital to develop their family economy. This is very exciting, it needs to be spread to other localities".
Prestigious people - keep the fire today, light up tomorrow
Not only a bridge between the Party, the State and the people, many village elders and prestigious people also set shining examples in economic development, cultural preservation and actively responding to patriotic emulation movements. They are considered "life stories", contributing to preserving national cultural identity and building a new cultural life at the grassroots level.
In many villages and hamlets, ethnic minorities, village elders and prestigious people are the "historic men", the "fire keepers" for the gong culture space, traditional festivals and customs of the local people.
Mr. Y Giang Gry Nie knong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dak Lak province - said: "In recent years, a team of prestigious people have been making an important contribution to poverty reduction and economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas. They are the core to connect the community, spreading the major policies and guidelines of the Party and State to people in villages and hamlets. Thanks to that, the rate of poor and near-poor households among ethnic minorities in the province has decreased significantly".
In the current period, facing the challenges of industrialization, modernization and the impact of social networks, the role of the elderly and prestigious people needs to be promoted more strongly.
Dak Lak province will continue to build a mechanism for close coordination between sectors and levels in fostering, updating information and timely rewards. At the same time, pay attention to discovering and fostering the next generation to continue the tradition of the village elders and prestigious people today.
According to the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions, in 2025, the whole Dak Lak province will have about 1,000 prestigious people. In the period of 2025 - 2030, the provincial authorities will continue to allocate resources to care for and nurture a team of prestigious people in ethnic minority areas. This is one of the key tasks for local authorities at all levels to effectively implement resources of national target programs for ethnic minority and mountainous areas. At the same time, build a team of village elders and prestigious successors to meet the requirements of the tasks set out in the new situation.
