Building the Party from remote villages
For more than 10 years, he has held the role of Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of La E commune, then Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Dac Mi commune, Lieutenant Colonel Tran Thanh Vinh, an officer of the Nam Giang International Border Guard Station, almost in every family line, every path of the Co Tu and Gie Trieng ethnic groups. Not only did he work with commune officials to draft resolutions and hold meetings with people, but he also went to each household to instruct on how to grow acacia, raise cows, and renovate the forest garden. The model of "each cadre and party member of the border post helps two households escape poverty" proposed by him was also formed from those persistent steps.
The family of Mr. Bhriu Ven, Dac Penh village, has escaped poverty from a year-round lack of food thanks to border guides in raising cows, planting acacia and running a sustainable forest economy. Mr. Bhriu Ven shared: officer Vinh talks easily, as approachable as a villager. His children and grandchildren understand the Party's guidelines and policies immediately." According to Lieutenant Colonel Vinh, for border guards, "near the people" is not only a working motto but a way to understand the people, help the people and protect the land. Therefore, he chose to " handle the work together", "eat together, stay together" and persistently learn the language of the people to speak the language of the people.
Many years ago, when border communes were still lacking cadres, the Da Nang Border Guard proactively sent capable party members to the grassroots to hold important positions. This approach not only adds human resources but also "encourages" disciplined and scientific working methods.
Thanks to the steadfast cadres "nursing cadres on the spot", border communes now have Party cells in 100% of villages, with village chiefs being Party members; 269 border guards are in charge of nearly 1,000 border households.
Mr. So Lam Nguoi - Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of La De commune - commented: "Since the border guards returned to the commune, the Party Committee has focused on strengthening the political system, advising on economic - cultural development, and maintaining security".
Sowing seeds of faith
Not only increasing cadres to communes, the Da Nang Border Guard Party Committee also deploys the model of "border guard station delegates working in village groups". Each Party member is assigned to take charge of a village, work with the Party cell, make a resolution, mobilize people to protect forests, keep land, and comply with the law.
Currently, Da Nang has 20 border station officers participating in the border committee of communes and wards - a force considered the core in advising and consolidating the grassroots political system. They are both soldiers protecting sovereignty and "commune cadres" in blue shirts, bringing military discipline and their dedication to serving the people.
Colonel Hoang Van Man - Political Commissar of the Da Nang City Border Guard - affirmed: "Border guards working at village Party cells help improve the leadership capacity of the Party organization, while helping cadres grasp the area, understand the people, and be close to the people".
The remote border area bordering Laos in Da Nang is changing day by day. From roads, schools, economic models to strong solidarity between the army and the people... there are the marks of silent border guards. They not only keep the border, but also sow the seeds of faith, contributing to building an increasingly beautiful border area.
In that place of "the beginning of a thousand winds", the sayings of the people sound simple but full of emotion: "Where there are people, there are soldiers; where there are soldiers, there are people in peace". Also from the people's hearts, the blue military rank soldiers are more and more steadfast to continue their journey to protect the land, protect the village, and keep the peace at the Fatherland's fence.
