Speaking at the opening ceremony, Member of the Party Central Committee, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Women's Union Le Thi Thuy acknowledged the heartfelt and responsible contributions of association leaders through various periods, scientists, agencies, units and a large number of cadres and women's union members in the process of drafting the Congress documents.
Assessing the results of the past term, Ms. Le Thi Thuy said that in the context of the world and regional situation developing complicatedly and unpredictably; climate change, epidemics and many unfavorable factors affecting all aspects of socio-economic life, the women's movement and union work still achieved important and comprehensive results.
Under the leadership of the Party, the concern and creation of conditions by the National Assembly, Government, Vietnam Fatherland Front; the coordination and support of ministries, branches, unions, localities and the consensus of cadres, members and all classes of women across the country, the role, bravery, intelligence, spirit of innovation, creativity and aspiration to contribute of Vietnamese women continue to be strongly promoted.
The emulation movement "Building Vietnamese Women in the New Era" has created a widespread spread, contributing to building the image of Vietnamese women to develop comprehensively.
The key tasks of the Association have many positive changes; the work of supporting women to improve their qualifications, capacity, entrepreneurship, and innovation has been promoted; women are increasingly actively contributing to socio-economic development, national defense, security and building happy families.
Along with that, social security work is increasingly practical and effective; association organizations continue to be consolidated, developed and expanded. The content and methods of operation have many innovations in the direction of being close to grassroots levels, putting women at the center, promoting the role of representing, caring for, and protecting the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of women.
The Association also actively participates in building the Party and political system; improving the quality of supervision, social criticism and participating in policy making; promoting the core role in promoting gender equality; expanding foreign affairs activities, contributing to strengthening solidarity, friendship, cooperation and promoting the image of Vietnamese women in the international arena.
According to Ms. Le Thi Thuy, the results achieved in the past term have made an important contribution to the overall development achievements of the country.
Emphasizing the significance of this Congress, the Chairwoman of the Vietnam Women's Union said that the 14th National Congress of Women takes place in the context of the country entering a new era of development with many great opportunities intertwined with many difficulties and challenges.
This is an important milestone, opening a new stage of development for the women's movement and union work, associated with the aspiration to build a rich, strong, democratic, fair, civilized and happy country.
The Congress has three key tasks. The Congress conducts a summary and assessment of the implementation of the Resolution of the 13th National Congress of Women and reviews the leadership of the Central Executive Committee of the Union; clearly points out the strengths, weaknesses, causes and draws lessons learned; and at the same time, discusses and decides on goals, tasks, and solutions for the next term in accordance with the new development context of the country.
The Congress has the task of summarizing the implementation of the Charter of the 13th Vietnam Women's Union and discussing and approving the Charter of the Vietnam Women's Union (amended and supplemented).
The Congress promotes the spirit of solidarity and responsibility to select and elect the 14th Central Executive Committee of the Association with qualities, capacity, bravery, prestige, meeting the requirements and tasks in the new period.
Ms. Le Thi Thuy affirmed that the success of the Congress will create new motivation, new atmosphere, and unleash the potential, intelligence and aspiration to contribute of cadres, members, and women across the country, together with the entire nation to enter a new era of development.
Stating that women across the country are looking forward to the Congress with great faith and expectations, the Chairwoman of the Vietnam Women's Union requested delegates to promote the spirit of solidarity, responsibility, and wisdom; focus on researching, discussing, and contributing many heartfelt and profound opinions to complete the contents and programs set out, contributing to the overall success of the Congress.
Promoting the good traditions of Vietnamese women, with the attention of the Party, State, Vietnam Fatherland Front and the expectations of officials, members, and women from all walks of life across the country, I believe that the 14th National Women's Congress will be a great success," Ms. Le Thi Thuy emphasized.
