One of the important goals of Project 8 "Implementing gender equality and solving urgent issues for women and children" is to ensure the voice and substantive participation of women and children in socio-economic development activities in the community.
To achieve this goal, the Quang Tri Provincial Women's Union has implemented many activities to enhance the role and position of women in ethnic minority and mountainous areas.
Quang Tri Provincial Women's Union said that in the process of implementing Project 8, the Union organized policy dialogue activities at the commune and village cluster levels to create conditions for women to participate in exchanging and reflecting issues directly related to their rights.
Previously, in some mountainous areas, women still faced many barriers in accessing information, participating in social activities or expressing opinions on common community issues.
Through dialogues, women are equipped with knowledge about policies, laws, and gender equality; and at the same time have the opportunity to exchange directly with Party committees, authorities and relevant agencies.
The Provincial Women's Union has organized many skills training conferences, guiding the preparation for policy dialogues at the commune level for union officials at all levels. After that, union levels organized dialogues in many localities in the project 8 area.

The dialogue content focuses on practical issues such as supporting women's economic development, vocational training, employment, entrepreneurship, new rural construction; preventing early marriage, consanguineous marriage; child protection policies; preventing and combating drugs, social evils and policies related to women and children.
Through dialogues, more than 300 women's opinions were recorded, focusing on groups of issues such as credit capital, vocational training, OCOP product development, collective economic models, market connection, early marriage prevention and child protection.
Not only stopping at reflecting difficulties, dialogues also help women better understand their rights and responsibilities in the family and community.
According to the Quang Tri Provincial Women's Union, when women participate in the policy exchange process, their voices are recorded, and problems arising in life are detected earlier to have appropriate solutions.
Along with dialogue activities, the Provincial Women's Union also focuses on improving the capacity of ethnic minority women to participate in leadership in the political system. Training classes on leadership and management skills, knowledge about gender and gender mainstreaming are organized to support female officials to improve their capacity.
From the activities of Project 8, women in ethnic minority and mountainous areas of Quang Tri are increasingly proactive in participating in social activities, boldly expressing opinions and affirming their role in the community.
Gender equality is not only reflected in protecting women's rights but also in creating conditions for women to participate, decide and contribute to the overall development of the locality.
