This achievement contributes to celebrating the 80th anniversary of the Tradition of the Engineering Corps.
On March 10, at Engineer Brigade 270, Military Region 5 held a conference to draw experience from participating in the sports festival. Colonel Nguyen Van Hoa, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Military Region chaired the conference. Attending were delegates from functional agencies of the Military Region, leaders and commanders of Division 2, Division 315, Engineer Brigade 270, Engineer Brigade 280, Engineer Workshop 340 and 128 athletes participating in the sports festival.
Immediately after having the plan of the Engineer Corps, the Military Region General Staff promptly advised and issued a plan and organized close and scientific training. The forces participating in the sports festival were selected from core units including: Engineer Brigade 270 with 6 teams, Engineer Brigade 280, Division 2, Division 315 and Engineer Workshop 340.
At the sports festival, the teams of Military Region 5 achieved many achievements in competition events. Engineer Brigade 270 won the Second Prize in ground rescue and road reconnaissance, and also won the Third Prizes in project camouflage, crossing rivers by GSP ferry, terrorist bomb disposal and bomb and mine clearance. Division 2 won the Second Prize overall in obstacle engineering. Engineer Brigade 280 won the Second Prize in temporary resistance practice and deployment of explosives, connection of explosive power lines. Engineer Workshop 340 won the Third Prize in mobile repair team.
In the individual competition, Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Huu Sach, Political Commissar of Company 11, Battalion 4, Engineer Brigade 270 won the Third Prize in the political competition.
The 2026 All-Army Engineer Sports Festival takes place from March 3 to 7 at Brigade 249, Engineer Corps, gathering 22 delegations from agencies and units throughout the army. The delegations compete in 10 sports with 24 contents, including bomb and mine clearance, ensuring mobility, ensuring river crossing, rescue and relief, obstacle engineers, mobile repair and political awareness competition to learn about the 80-year tradition of the Engineer Corps.
Speaking at the conclusion of the conference, Colonel Nguyen Van Hoa acknowledged the spirit of responsibility and efforts of officers and soldiers participating in the sports festival. At the same time, he requested units to continue to innovate training methods, improve the level and skills of soldiers, and meet the requirements of tasks in the new situation.
On this occasion, Military Region 5 commended 6 collectives with good achievements at the sports festival.
