On February 9, according to the Ministry of National Defense's Electronic Information Portal, Major General Phan Dai Nghia - Deputy Commander cum Chief of Staff of Military Region 5 - chaired a conference to deploy key tasks before, during and after the 2026 Lunar New Year, in Da Nang.
At the conference, functional agencies reported on the progress of key contents including: Combat readiness in absolutely protecting the safety of political events and festivals during Tet; Preparations for the Military Service Handover and Training Launching Ceremony in 2026;
Developing plans to organize and participate in army-level and military-region-level competitions and sports festivals; Being ready to mobilize to perform tasks of disaster prevention and control, rescue and relief and arising situations; Preparation for the establishment of the Central Military School (peacetime).
According to assessments, over the past time, the Command of Military Region 5 has focused on drastic direction, synchronously deploying solutions, and excellently completing military and defense tasks.
The focus is to strictly maintain the combat readiness regime at all levels; Proactively grasp the situation in the area, prevent hotspots from occurring, and ensure that people in the Central - Central Highlands region celebrate Tet safely and happily.
One of the key tasks discussed in detail at the conference was the preparation for the establishment of the Central Military Junior High School (peacetime) directly under the Military Region. Implementing the policy of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense, Military Region 5 quickly established a Steering Committee and Working Group.
Major General Phan Dai Nghia requested agencies and units to thoroughly grasp the Resolutions and Directives of superiors to each officer and soldier; Do a good job of political education and ideological orientation; Review and select a contingent of officers and professional soldiers with virtue, talent, and sufficient staffing conditions into the management and teaching framework at the school.
Concluding the conference, Major General Phan Dai Nghia praised the spirit of responsibility and proactiveness of the agencies in advising and coordinating the implementation of tasks.
Major General Phan Dai Nghia requested Party committees and commanders of agencies and units to closely follow reality, strengthen inspection and urging, firmly grasp the situation, strictly maintain the duty regime, duty shift, command duty, rescue, and salvage, not to be passive or surprised in any situation.
At the same time, taking care of the material and spiritual life of soldiers during Tet, especially units performing tasks in remote, isolated, border, and island areas; ensuring absolute safety in all aspects.
