On September 14, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dong Hoi Ward (Quang Tri Province) said that it had just coordinated with Party committees, authorities and mass organizations in the Ha Thon Residential Area to visit and encourage the family of fishermen Hoang Canh, whose fishing boat unfortunately caught fire on the Nhat Le River at noon on September 11.
Previously, at around 12:30 on September 11, Mr. Hoang Canh's fishing boat was anchored at the TDP Ha Thon fishing port when it suddenly caught fire. Although the border guards and people promptly deployed rescue, due to the hot weather and strong winds, firefighting was difficult. It was not until about 3:00 p.m. the same day that the fire was controlled.
The fire fortunately did not cause any human casualties, however, the ship and all the fishing nets were completely burned down, with estimated damage of more than 2 billion VND. This is the boat that Mr. Canh's family invested in and built more than a year ago from bank loans, to develop the seafood industry and stabilize their livelihoods.
Faced with the huge damage, the Dong Hoi ward government visited, shared and presented 5 million VND from the Relief Fund of the ward's Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee to support the family to overcome initial difficulties.
The representative of the local leaders affirmed that they will continue to accompany and create conditions for fishermen to go offshore, stick to the sea, preserve traditional fishing grounds and contribute to protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland.
