The award ceremony was organized by the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) in coordination with the Vietnam Journalists Association and Vietnam Television.

According to the Organizing Committee, organizing the 5th National Defense Press Award Ceremony to fight corruption, waste and negativity in 2024 - 2025 is a practical activity to honor outstanding journalism works written on the topic of preventing and fighting corruption, waste and negativity. Thereby encouraging and motivating journalists nationwide, continuing to strongly promote the role of the press in detecting, fighting, and condemning corruption, waste, and negative acts.
After 2 years of implementation, up to July 31, 2025, the Organizing Committee of the Award has received 1,110 press entries in 4 categories: print newspapers, electronic newspapers, radio and television from 90 press agencies at the central and local levels. With a spirit of democracy, objectivity, fairness and high responsibility, the members of the Final Round Council reviewed and agreed to select 44 best works to award 4 A prizes; 10 B prizes; 12 C prizes; 18 Encouragement prizes.
The works submitted to the 5th Award are assessed to have content closely following the theme and criteria of the Award Regulations. In particular, press works focus on promptly and comprehensively reflecting the fight against corruption, waste and negativity of the Party and State with the motto of perseverance, continuity, no forbidden areas, no exceptions. In addition to works reflecting on the work of preventing and combating corruption and negativity, reporters, journalists, and press agencies have expanded the content and topics reflecting on preventing and combating waste according to the direction of General Secretary To Lam, Head of the Central Steering Committee on preventing and combating corruption, waste, and negativity.
Many works are of good quality, relevant, highly revealing, demonstrating the commitment of journalists, determination, courage and being under pressure, the dangers associated with corruption, waste and negativity. From there, creating press works creates a great influence, social impact, bringing efficiency, positive changes in the fight against corruption, waste and negativity.
