People are excited when the new bridge connects the two banks
In the days leading up to Tet, the completed and put into use Ba Mai bridge connecting Tan Qui - Ham Luong hamlets has brought clear joy to local people when travel has become more convenient and safer.
Ba Mai bridge is built solidly from socialized sources, with a total cost of over 200 million VND, replacing the old bridge that is degraded and vehicles cannot travel, contributing to ensuring traffic safety, especially during the rainy season and high tides.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hoa - a resident living near Ba Mai bridge - said that before, to go to Ham Luong hamlet, you had to go around more than 5km, the road was narrow and slippery, carrying goods and traveling during Tet was very inconvenient. "Since the new bridge, the distance has been shortened a lot. People going to Tet markets, transporting agricultural products or bringing children and grandchildren to reunite are more convenient and safer than before," Mr. Hoa shared.
According to local people, the bridge not only helps shorten travel distance but also creates trade conditions, especially in the last days of the year when the demand for buying and selling and transporting goods increases.
Not only is there socialization of bridge construction, investment in rural road construction is also being concerned and implemented, contributing to changing the face of many residential areas before the New Year.
The rural road in Tan Qui hamlet, 214m long, was invested with more than 200 million VND from socialization sources, helping the road surface to be spacious, clean and beautiful, serving well the daily travel needs of people.
Ms. Tran Thi Ut, residing in Tan Qui hamlet, said that before, every time it rained, dirt roads were muddy, and it was very difficult for students to go to school. Now that there is a concrete road, travel during Tet is even more convenient. "The new road is clean and beautiful, vehicles can travel easily, and goods can be transported to the market faster. On rainy days of Tet, children going to school is also safe, and parents are very reassured," Ms. Ut said.
According to local authorities, during the implementation process, people were highly supportive, willing to donate land, contribute working days, and jointly maintain the project to promote long-term efficiency.
From specific projects to spreading belief in the community
From the bridges and roads completed before Tet, people's belief in joining hands for the benefit of the community is increasingly strengthened, creating an exciting atmosphere in building new rural areas.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuan Thanh - Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Vinh Long province - said that in 2025, socialization work will continue to be synchronously implemented by Fronts at all levels, effectively mobilizing resources to care for social security in the province.
The whole province has newly built, repaired, and upgraded 128.9km of rural roads with a total cost of 43.1 billion VND; installed 14.92km of lighting roads in many residential areas.
In addition, 377 rural bridges were newly built and repaired with a total cost of 34.68 billion VND, contributing to ensuring traffic safety and serving the travel and living needs of people. The total value of projects and socialization funds implemented in 2025 is estimated at 78 billion VND, creating a more spacious rural appearance, especially during Tet and spring.
According to Ms. Tuan Thanh, the purpose of socialization is to mobilize more resources to effectively implement social security policies, helping many vulnerable groups stabilize their lives. Through socialization, many households are supported with housing, livelihood investment, gradually rise out of sustainable poverty, and have more conditions to welcome a warmer and more fulfilling Tet.
In the coming time, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province will continue to promote its core role in mobilizing socialization, calling for resources to build bridges, roads, and essential civil works. Thereby, contributing to completing the criteria of new rural areas, civilized urban areas, building Vinh Long homeland to become increasingly developed, so that every spring, people's lives become more prosperous.
