On the morning of December 19, the People's Committee of Vinh Long province solemnly held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Dinh Khao bridge construction investment project connecting the two provinces of Vinh Long - Ben Tre (before the merger). This is a strategic traffic project, removing the "bottleneck" of Dinh Khao ferry that has existed for decades.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Tran Tri Quang - Chairman of Vinh Long Provincial People's Committee said that the Dinh Khao bridge project started construction on the occasion of the 79th anniversary of the National Resistance Day, aiming to celebrate the 14th National Congress of the Party, demonstrating Vinh Long province's determination to prioritize investment in synchronous and modern transport infrastructure.
The project helps remove the Dinh Khao ferry bottleneck on National Highway 57, strengthen regional connectivity, shorten travel time and open up opportunities to attract investment and develop logistics for the whole region.
On behalf of the provincial leaders, he respectfully thanked the attention and support from the Government, central ministries and branches and especially the consensus and support of the people in the project area.
The Chairman requested relevant units to closely coordinate, focus resources on construction to ensure progress, quality and safety, and soon complete the project to put it into operation to serve the people.
The Dinh Khao bridge project is invested under the public-private partnership (PPP) method, a BOT contract type. The project has a total length of about 4.3km; the scale of a level III plain road is 80km/h. Of which, the main bridge over the Co Chien River is about 1.54km long, with a scale of 4 lanes. The total investment is more than VND 2,852 billion (including interest), the expected construction time is about 3 years.
The event is part of a series of 234 inauguration and groundbreaking ceremonies for large-scale projects and works, which are meaningful to celebrate the 14th National Congress of the Party.
On the same day, Vinh Long province also simultaneously started construction and inaugurated two other key projects. In particular, the Social Housing Project in Long Chau Ward is built on an area of about 5,800m2, including a block of apartments with a maximum height of 15 floors, providing about 456 apartments, meeting the housing needs of about 1,824 people, with a synchronous technical infrastructure system.
Inauguration of the Phu Thuan Industrial Park infrastructure investment project is being implemented with a site clearance scale of more than 231 hectares, building an internal traffic system, a wastewater treatment plant with a capacity of 4,500m3/day and night, lighting system and trees.
The simultaneous groundbreaking and inauguration of traffic works, housing and industrial infrastructure shows the determination of Vinh Long province in promoting socio-economic development in the period of 2021-2025, creating a foundation for sustainable growth in the following years.
