On the morning of August 19, many people eagerly waited in the sun to witness the moment the Rach Mieu 2 bridge connecting Dong Thap - Vinh Long was inaugurated, realizing the long-standing wishes.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Bach Yen (60 years old, living in Kim Son commune, Dong Thap province) lives not far from the project, so this morning she took the opportunity to attend the inauguration ceremony of Rach Mieu 2 bridge with her children and grandchildren. "It was hot and sunny but everyone was excited, because today I witnessed the historic moment that the people have been waiting for for a long time," Ms. Yen said.
According to Ms. Yen, the addition of Rach Mieu 2 Bridge will help travel between neighboring provinces more conveniently, limiting the congestion that often occurs on Rach Mieu 1 Bridge. "This bridge not only helps people less suffer but is also the pride of the whole region, opening up many development opportunities in the future," Ms. Yen added.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hoa, (69 years old, Vinh Long province) said that Rach Mieu 2 bridge is a project that people on both sides have been waiting for for a long time. The addition of a modern bridge will relieve traffic pressure, especially on Rach Mieu 1 Bridge and National Highway 60 which are often congested.
According to Mr. Hoa, there have been many traffic jams for hours on Rach Mieu 1 Bridge, sometimes traveling from home to Tien Giang (before the merger) takes nearly half a day. Now that the new bridge has been inaugurated, travel will be much faster and easier.
Looking at the newly inaugurated bridge, Mr. Hoa emotionally added: Today I wear the sun to wait for the moment of cutting the ribbon to inaugurate. It felt very happy, like witnessing an important milestone of this land. Hopefully, the bridge will open up many business and development opportunities for people".
Rach Mieu 2 Bridge was inaugurated on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2, which is even more meaningful, becoming a symbol of innovation, connection and development of the Mekong Delta.
Rach Mieu 2 Bridge started construction in March 2022, with a total investment of more than VND6,810 billion, connecting Vinh Long and Dong Thap on National Highway 60. The main bridge is 1.97 km long, with a scale of 4 lanes, and a approach road of 15.15 km. Rach Mieu 2 Bridge is expected to help reduce the load on Rach Mieu Bridge, which is often congested during the holidays, as well as contribute to promoting regional economic development.
