Latest update from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, due to the influence of the circulation of the tropical depression, in Con Co special zone (Quang Tri) there are strong winds of level 6, gusts of level 8; the area from Quang Tri to Da Nang last night and morning of September 13 had moderate to heavy rain.
Tropical depression about to make landfall in Ha Tinh and the north of Quang Tri province
At 7:00 AM on September 13, the center of the tropical depression was located at about 17.2 degrees North latitude - 108.3 degrees East longitude, over the sea area of Quang Tri - Hue; about 100km north-northeast of Hue; about 170km east-southeast of Quang Tri. The strongest wind near the center of the tropical depression is strong at level 6 (39-49 km/h), gusting at level 8. The tropical depression is moving in the Northwest direction at a speed of about 15 km/h.
Forecast for the next 24 hours, the tropical depression will move in a West-Northwest direction, at a speed of 10-15 km/h.
By 7:00 AM on September 14, the center of the tropical depression will be located at about 17.8 degrees North latitude - 106.2 degrees East longitude; over the mainland area of Ha Tinh and the north of Quang Tri province. Wind intensity is strong at level 6, gusting at level 8.
Forecast for the next 36 hours, the tropical depression will move in a West-Northwest direction at a speed of about 10 km/h and gradually weaken into a low pressure area.
By 7:00 PM on September 14th, the center of the low pressure area will be located at approximately 18.1 degrees North latitude - 105.0 degrees East longitude; over the Central Laos region. Wind intensity will decrease to below level 6.
Heavy rain area expands to the North from tonight
For the mainland coastal area, the coastal area from Ha Tinh to Quang Tri from the afternoon of September 13, the wind will gradually strengthen to level 6, gusting to level 8; deep inland areas will have level 6 gusts. Strong winds can blow off roofs, damage temporary structures, break down green trees and billboards; affecting electricity, communication and traffic systems.
Heavy rain will occur in the midland and delta areas of the Northern region, the south of Son La, Phu Tho, Tuyen Quang, Lao Cai provinces; the area from Thanh Hoa to Hue.
On the day and night of September 13th, the area from Ha Tinh to Hue will have heavy to very heavy rain and thunderstorms with common rainfall from 100-200mm, locally over 350mm.
Thanh Hoa and Nghe An areas have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms with common rainfall of 40-70mm, locally very heavy rain over 150mm.
On the night of September 13th, the midland and delta areas of the Northern region, the south of Son La and Phu Tho provinces will have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms with common rainfall from 20-50mm, locally over 100mm.
On the day and night of September 14, the area from Thanh Hoa to Quang Tri will have heavy to very heavy rain and thunderstorms with common rainfall from 100-200mm, locally over 350mm.
The midland and delta areas of the Northern region, the south of Son La, Phu Tho, Tuyen Quang, Lao Cai provinces will have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms with common rainfall from 40-80mm, locally over 150mm.
On September 15th day and night, the midland and delta areas of the Northern region, the south of Son La, Phu Tho, Tuyen Quang, Lao Cai provinces, and the area from Thanh Hoa to the north of Quang Tri will have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms with common rainfall from 30-60mm, locally very heavy rain over 100mm. The heavy rain in these areas is likely to last until the morning of September 16th.
Heavy rain may cause flooding in urban areas, industrial parks and low-lying areas; increasing the risk of floods on small rivers and streams, flash floods and landslides in mountainous areas.
At sea, the sea area from southern Nghe An to Hue (including Con Co special zone) has strong winds of level 6, gusts of level 8, waves 2-4m high; rough seas.
