The strongest wind near the storm center is level 8 - 9 (62-88km/h), gusting to level 11. The storm is moving west-northwest at a speed of 5 - 10km/h.
It is forecasted that in the next 24 hours, the storm will continue to move northwest at a speed of about 10km/h. At 10:00 on June 13, the center of the storm was at about 18.6 degrees north latitude; 108.9 degrees east longitude, in the area southwest of Hainan Island (China). The strongest wind near the storm center is level 10, gusting to level 13.
The dangerous area at sea in the next 24 hours will have strong winds of level 6 or higher, gusting from level 8 or higher, located between 15.5 to 20.5 degrees north latitude and from 107.0 to 111.5 degrees east longitude. Level 3 natural disaster risk in the northwest area of the East Sea (including Hoang Sa archipelago), the offshore waters from Quang Tri to Quang Ngai and the Gulf of Tonkin.
It is forecasted that in the next 48 hours, the storm is likely to change direction to the north, then to the north-northeast at a speed of 10 - 15km/h. At 10:00 on June 14, the center of the storm was at about 21.3 degrees north latitude; 110 degrees east longitude, in the Zhou area (China).
The strongest wind near the storm center is level 8, gusting to level 10. The danger zone will expand north of the 17-degree north latitude, between 107.5 and 112.5 degrees east longitude. Level 3 natural disaster risk in the northwest of the East Sea, offshore waters from Quang Tri to Hue and the Gulf of Tonkin.
It is forecasted that in the next 72 hours, the storm will continue to move northeast at a speed of 20 - 25km/h and gradually weaken into a low pressure area on the southern mainland of China, located at about 24.9 degrees north latitude; 113.4 degrees east longitude, with an intensity below level 6.
Regarding the impact of the storm at sea, the northwest area of the East Sea (including the Hoang Sa archipelago), the sea area off the coast from Quang Tri to Quang Ngai will have strong winds of level 6 - 8, the area near the storm's eye will have winds of level 9-10, gusts of level 13, waves 3-5m high, the area near the storm's eye will have waves of 4 - 6m, the sea will be very rough.
From the night of June 12, the sea area of the Gulf of Tonkin will have winds gradually increasing to level 6 - 7, the area near the storm center will have level 8 - 9, gusts of level 11, waves 2 - 4m high, the sea will be very rough. Ship operating in the above sea areas are likely to be affected by thunderstorms, whirlwinds, strong winds and large waves.
In coastal waters, due to the influence of high tides and storm surges, provinces from Hai Phong to Nghe An are likely to experience unusually high sea levels ( Hon Dau: 3.9m; Hon Ngu: 2.8m), causing flooding in some low-lying areas in coastal areas and river mouths between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on June 12 and 13.
