On August 27, Mr. Nguyen Van Nham - Vice Chairman of B'Lao Ward People's Committee, said that the locality has reported to the People's Committee of Lam Dong province about the situation of many cracks appearing in the land adjacent to Loc Son Industrial Park, posing a risk of landslides.
The locality requested the Provincial People's Committee to direct specialized agencies to inspect and assess the stability level of the area, determine the danger range and propose appropriate technical solutions. At the same time, it is proposed to accelerate land acquisition, compensation, site clearance and allocate capital sources for fundamental handling, ensuring safety for people and businesses.
Previously, on August 25, the People's Committee of B'Lao Ward coordinated with the Ward Civil Defense Command, Loc Son - Phu Hoi Industrial Park Infrastructure Development Company, businesses and households to organize a field inspection of the area.
Through inspection, the taluy soil bank here is about 20m high and about 230m long. Due to the impact of prolonged heavy rain, the taluy has many signs of instability, with cracks about 0.1 - 0.3m wide. Some locations are about 0.4m lower than the old soil foundation.
The area at risk of landslides is determined to be about 5,500m2. According to the Management Board of Industrial Parks of Lam Dong province, this area belongs to the planning scope of Loc Son Industrial Park, about 1.3ha.
The area at risk of landslides affects the land use of 5 households and individuals, mainly growing fruit trees and coffee. Currently, there are no houses or construction works of the people.
Below the taluy is land of Bac Thai Nam Tea Co., Ltd. and Phuoc Loc Tea Co., Ltd.
Bac Thai Nam Company has construction works, and Phuoc Loc Company is leveling the ground. These areas are likely to be affected if large-scale landslides occur.
As Lao Dong Newspaper has reported: On August 25, after receiving information about the risk of landslides, the People's Committee of B'Lao Ward coordinated to inspect and assess the risk of landslides at a high level, especially when heavy rain continues.
Initially, the locality has placed warning signs, stretched ropes to limit people and vehicles from entering dangerous areas; and at the same time arranged forces to regularly monitor developments.
According to the Provincial Industrial Zones Authority, the above area belongs to the planning of Loc Son Industrial Zone, located within the boundary of 185ha that has been approved in principle by the Prime Minister.
In 2005, the People's Committee of Lam Dong province issued a decision to recover land and assign it to Loc Son Industrial Park Infrastructure Development Company for management.
However, so far, land acquisition and compensation have not been implemented due to the lack of capital allocation.
While waiting for handling plans, B'Lao Ward People's Committee continues to maintain warnings, arrange on-duty forces and be ready to deploy evacuation, rescue and relief plans when situations arise.
