Lam Dong - Land area of 5,500m2 adjacent to Loc Son Industrial Park has many cracks, landslide risk, affecting 5 households and businesses.

Taluy, 20m high, shows many cracks

On August 26, Mr. Nguyen Van Nham - Vice Chairman of B'Lao Ward People's Committee (Lam Dong) - said that the locality has just coordinated to inspect the area at risk of landslides adjacent to Loc Son Industrial Park after receiving feedback from people.

Participating in the inspection were the Ward Civil Defense Command, representatives of Loc Son Industrial Park Infrastructure Development Company and 2 adjacent businesses.

Through inspection, the area has a taluy slope of about 20m high and about 230m long. Due to the impact of prolonged heavy rain, taluy cracks appeared with an average width of 0.1-0.3m.

The area at risk of landslides is about 5,500m2 wide, about 0.4m lower than the current ground level.

The scope of impact is related to the land use of 5 households and individuals. The area mainly grows fruit trees, coffee and does not have housing or construction works.

Below the negative slope, the southern area borders Bac Thai Nam Tea Co., Ltd. and Phuoc Loc Tea Company.

Bac Thai Nam Tea Co., Ltd. has a construction project on land, while Phuoc Loc Tea Company has not built and is having an excavator clearing the ground.

According to the People's Committee of B'Lao Ward, the two businesses located adjacent to the area are at high risk of being affected if landslides occur.

Faced with this risk, the People's Committee of B'Lao ward has placed warning signs "Zone at risk of landslides", stretched warning ropes to warn of danger, and prevent people and vehicles from approaching the area.

The Ward Military Command is assigned forces to monitor and closely follow developments in the area 24/24 hours.

The People's Committee of B'Lao Ward requests the Management Board of Industrial Parks of Lam Dong province to urgently work with businesses with adjacent land to implement warning and prevention measures.

Businesses are required to move production equipment out of dangerous areas, at least 100m; and at the same time stop construction of adjacent works if safety is not ensured when landslides occur.

Neighborhood Group 18 is required to notify land users in the area and adjacent households, absolutely not to enter areas at risk of landslides.

At the same time, regularly monitor and promptly report to the Ward People's Committee when abnormal situations arise.

In the long term, the People's Committee of B'Lao Ward will work with the Management Board of Industrial Parks of Lam Dong province on land use needs, land acquisition, compensation, site clearance and support policies for the area under the planning of Loc Son Industrial Park.

On that basis, the locality will work with land users to continue to carry out land recovery and compensation according to regulations.

The People's Committee of B'Lao Ward assigned the Ward Police and the Ward Military Command to organize duty shifts, ready to mobilize forces and vehicles to coordinate in handling emergencies; support evacuation, rescue, and relief when necessary.

The People's Committee of B'Lao ward has reported to the People's Committee of Lam Dong province and relevant departments and branches on the current situation of the landslide-prone area adjacent to Loc Son - Phu Hoi Industrial Park for consideration and direction.
