Updated bulletin issued at 9:05 am on May 17 from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, through monitoring on satellite images, thunderstorm and weather radar positioning data, it is discovered that the convective cloud area is developing and causing rain for Linh Nam, Gia Lam, Bat Trang, Thanh Tri, Nam Phu wards,... is moving and expanding to the inner city area of Hanoi.
Warning that in the next 30 minutes to 3 hours, this cloud area will cause rain for wards/communes in Linh Nam, Gia Lam, Bat Trang, Thanh Tri, Nam Phu areas, then it will spread to other wards/communes in inner Hanoi.
The meteorological agency warns that in thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind with the level of natural disaster risk due to tornadoes, lightning, and hail being level 1.
Regarding the rain trend in the next 1 month, the total rainfall in the North is generally at a level close to the average of many years in the same period.
Across the country, there is a possibility of some widespread showers and thunderstorms. In particular, there is a possibility of widespread heavy rain in the Northern region from around June 2026.
