After many days of prolonged intense heat, the rains that appeared in mid-May have helped the air quality in many areas of the Capital to improve significantly.

According to data from the Northern Environmental Monitoring Center, at 7 am on May 20, all measuring stations in Hanoi recorded good air quality index (AQI).
The measuring station at 556 Nguyen Van Cu recorded index 25; measuring station No. 1 on Giai Phong street (Bach Mai ward) at level 15; while the station at Nhan Chinh - Khuat Duy Tien park reached level 18. These indices are all within the safe threshold, not affecting community health.
The cooler weather makes many Hanoi residents feel comfortable when going out. From early morning, in parks, regulating lakes and areas with many green trees, many people took the opportunity to walk, exercise, enjoy fresh air and cool weather.

No longer feeling hot and stuffy like in previous days, Ms. Pham Kim Oanh (56 years old, Cau Giay ward) woke up early to go to the park to exercise as a way to enjoy the pleasant time of the Capital after rain.
According to Ms. Oanh, the reduced temperature and airy air make the spirit more comfortable. Thanks to that, walking or exercising outdoors is also much more comfortable.
These days the weather is more pleasant, so I take advantage of going to the park to exercise early. The cool, fresh air makes my spirit much more comfortable after prolonged hot days," Ms. Oanh said.
Not only the elderly, young people also enjoy this airy space to start a new day with positive energy.
Dao Anh Hieu (19 years old, Tay Tuu ward) shared: "In previous days, the weather was prolonged and hot, so I was almost reluctant to go out to exercise in the morning. Today, the air is cooler and more pleasant, so I take advantage of waking up early to walk around the lake to relax and recharge energy for the new day. Both exercising and breathing fresh air makes my spirit much more comfortable.

Similarly, Mr. Cao Duc Trai (26 years old, Cau Giay ward) also took advantage of going to the park early to enjoy the atmosphere after rainy and stormy days.
Mr. Duc Trai said that throughout the previous peak hot days, he was mostly confined to his office and was very reluctant to go out. At that time, every time he had to step out on the street, he felt heat shock immediately because the temperature difference was too large.
These days it's raining, the weather is cool and the air quality is also much better. Being able to breathe fresh air like this makes me feel relaxed, my spirit is comfortable and I can regain energy for work," Mr. Duc Trai said.

According to environmental experts, the main reason for the rapid improvement of air quality is thanks to the impact of the cold air wave causing widespread rain. Rainfall has contributed to "washing away" fine dust and pollutants suspended in the air, causing AQI in Hanoi to fall to a good level.
However, air quality can still fluctuate during the day, especially during peak hours when traffic density increases.
People are advised to continue to follow air quality bulletins daily to proactively adjust outdoor activities. At the same time, maintain environmentally friendly living habits to contribute to maintaining stable air quality for the Capital.
