The area from Ha Tinh to the east of Dak Lak, north of Khanh Hoa, west of Lam Dong and the Southern region on the day and night of March 6, is forecast to have scattered showers and thunderstorms with rainfall from 10 - 30 mm, locally heavy rain over 50 mm.
The meteorological agency warns that thunderstorms are likely to occur with tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. Localized heavy rain is likely to cause flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on slopes and flooding in low-lying areas.
Regarding the trend of rain in March, the total rainfall in the North, Thanh Hoa to Hue and the South Central Coast is forecast to be generally higher than the multi-year average of the same period from 10 - 30 mm, in some places higher than 30 mm. Especially the Central Highlands and Southern regions have a common total rainfall at a threshold close to the multi-year average of the same period.
During the forecast period, in the Northern region, Thanh Hoa - Quang Ngai and eastern Gia Lai - Dak Lak, there is a possibility of some widespread rains. The Central Highlands and Southern regions may experience some days of unseasonal rain.
