On March 6, the Dien Bien Forest Protection Department said that forecasting the risk of forest fires until March 10, many communes and wards are facing a very high risk of forest fires.
Specifically, the Tuan Giao area, the sub-region of Dien Bien valley and the Muong Lay area are warning of extremely dangerous forest fires (Level V).
According to the Forest Protection Department, low rainfall and drought have made the vegetation under the forest very flammable. The burning of fields and the uncontrolled use of fire near the forest area have led to a number of vegetation fires in Thanh Yen and Quai To communes.
To proactively prevent the risk of fire outbreaks, the Forest Protection Department requests functional forces to organize 24/24 hour forest fire prevention and fighting duty, during peak days of high risk of forest fires.
Localities strengthen broadcasting in villages and hamlets to advise people not to burn and clear fields near forests and forest edges. In addition, localities and forest owners need to set up checkpoints to control people entering and leaving areas at high risk of fire.
In case of detecting a forest fire point, people should report to the Forest Protection Department via phone number 0869. 549. 618 for timely handling plans.
