According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, today (February 24), the Northeast region and Thanh Hoa will have rain, scattered light rain.
The Northern region, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An from February 25 to the end of February 26, it is forecast to have showers and scattered thunderstorms. Common rainfall is 10 - 30mm/24h, locally heavy rain over 70mm/24h.
The Southern region, Khanh Hoa and Lam Dong from February 26-27, are forecast to have the possibility of a period of unseasonal showers and thunderstorms. Common rainfall is 10 - 20mm/24h, locally heavy rain over 50mm/24h. Rain time is concentrated in the afternoon and evening.
The meteorological agency warns that thunderstorms are likely to occur with tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. Localized heavy rain may cause flash floods on small rivers and streams; landslides on slopes and flooding in low-lying areas.
Regarding the rainfall trend, in the next month, the total rainfall in areas nationwide is generally approximately or higher than the multi-year average of the same period from 10 - 30mm, in some places higher than 30mm.
Ha Tinh - Hue and the South Central Coast regions are likely to experience some widespread rains. The Southern region may experience some days of unseasonal rain. Dangerous weather phenomena such as thunderstorms, tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind are likely to occur locally.
The rainy season in regions across the country is equivalent to the multi-year average. In the Central Highlands region, the rainy season starts around the end of April - early May, in the Southern region around the second half of May, and in the Northern region around May.
