No shortage of clean water in rural areas
The Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province directed the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to develop a production plan suitable to the actual situation and weather developments, to limit damage caused by natural disasters. The Clean Water Center coordinated with localities to review, upgrade, and expand water supply works, ensuring essential water sources, so that people would not lack water for daily use. The People's Committees of districts and cities of Ca Mau advised people to proactively store fresh water, use water economically and effectively.
Mr. Phan Hoang Vu - Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Ca Mau province - said: Currently, Ca Mau has 26 centralized rural water supply projects with a total pipeline length of 649km, basically meeting the essential needs of nearly 27,000 households.
Prevent landslides and land subsidence
Mr. Ngo Nguyen Phong - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Bac Lieu province - commented that if the dry season occurs early, the water shortage in canals will have a high risk of landslides and land subsidence like in 2024.
In Tran Van Thoi district (Ca Mau province) - the epicenter of landslides and land subsidence in 2024 - since the beginning of 2025, propaganda, mobilization and warning work for people about the risk of land subsidence, riverbank, canal and ditch landslides, threatening the lives and causing damage to people's and State's property (housing, constructions, traffic infrastructure...) has been carried out.
Minimize damage caused by drought and salinity
According to the forecast of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the saline intrusion in the dry season of 2024-2025 will be higher than the annual average. In the Mekong Delta, there is a possibility of local water shortages and deep saline intrusion into river mouths, affecting people's lives and production and business activities.
In that context, saving fresh water in production and daily life is the most effective solution to limit saltwater intrusion and fresh water shortage.
To proactively produce in drought and salinity conditions, Mr. Phan Hoang Vu - Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Ca Mau province - informed that the Department has instructed localities to adjust the crop calendar to suit the actual situation, organize production in accordance with weather developments; provide professional and technical support in production activities, promptly advise people to be proactive in production, and minimize damage. Ca Mau has invested in new, upgraded, and renovated irrigation infrastructure...
