The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that in the coming days, the Central region will be the region with the most obvious weather changes.
The Central Central and South Central regions from December 23 to December 26 are forecast to have moderate rain, heavy rain, locally very heavy rain and thunderstorms with common rainfall of 100 - 300mm, locally over 500mm.
In the eastern Central Highlands from December 24 to December 25, it is forecasted that there will be moderate rain, heavy rain, locally very heavy rain and thunderstorms with common rainfall of 60 - 120mm, locally over 200mm.
The meteorological agency warns that the risk of natural disasters caused by heavy rain, tornadoes and lightning is level 1.
Heavy rains can cause flooding in low-lying areas; flash floods in small rivers and streams, and landslides on steep slopes.
Regarding the rainfall trend from now until early January 2025, the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that the total rainfall in the North, North Central and Central Highlands will generally be 10-20mm lower than the average of many years, some places in the Northwest may be lower than the above level.
The area from Quang Binh to Khanh Hoa and the north of Ninh Thuan has total rainfall 50 - 100mm higher than the average of many years. Other areas have total rainfall 10 - 20mm higher than the average of many years in the same period.
The Central and South Central regions will continue to experience widespread moderate and heavy rains from now until early January. The Southern region is likely to experience scattered showers and thunderstorms, with localized moderate and heavy rains.
Southern provinces continue to be on guard against the possibility of dangerous weather phenomena such as tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.
