According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, today (December 11) the Northern and North Central regions will have rain in some places.
The Northeast region, the west of Phu Tho province, the east of Son La province and the east of Lao Cai province from the night of December 12 to the end of December 13 are forecast to have moderate rain, heavy rain and scattered thunderstorms, locally very heavy rain with common rainfall of 30 - 70mm, locally over 120mm.
In the North Central region in the afternoon and night of December 13, there is a forecast of moderate rain, heavy rain with common rainfall of 30 - 60mm, locally over 100mm.
Warning of the risk of heavy rain with rainfall greater than 100mm within 3 hours. From December 14, heavy rain in the above areas will gradually decrease.
The cause of this rain is due to the influence of cold air coinciding with the appearance of a wind convergence area from 1,500m to 5,000m. Along with heavy rain in the North and North Central regions due to cold air, there is a risk of extreme weather phenomena such as tornadoes, whirlwinds and even hail. The warning level of natural disaster risk due to heavy rain, tornadoes, lightning, and hail is level 1.
Heavy rain is likely to cause flooding in low-lying areas, urban and industrial areas; flash floods on small rivers and streams; landslides on steep slopes.
Real-time warning information for areas at risk of flash floods and landslides is provided online on the website of the Department of Hydrometeorology at: https://luquetsatlo.nchmf.gov.vn and in a separate bulletin warning of flash floods and landslides.
