On December 11, information from Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM), 100% of items preparing for the first technical flights at Long Thanh International Airport (Long Thanh Airport) in mid-December 2025 were completed.
VATM has deployed synchronous and comprehensive preparation work in terms of infrastructure, technical systems, human resources and operations, the entire flight operation assurance system in Long Thanh has been put into stable operation.

The breakthrough in VATM's technical work this time is the application of the safety standard "ultra-layered, multi-layered".
Essential CNS/ATM systems such as communication (VHF, VCCS), guidance, monitoring, electronic transfer (AMHS) and meteorological monitoring are not only fully installed but also reviewed and confirmed for technical readiness with a multi-layer redundancy backup mechanism.
This ensures the system operates continuously 24/7 with the highest quality, eliminating any risk of service interruptions even in the most severe situations.

At the airport, the exploitation method according to the actual scenarios of runway 23L/05R, taxiway B and the connecting taxiway and taxiway system D24 has fully ensured the conditions for receiving and guiding aircraft.
VATM has also optimized flight methods at Long Thanh International Airport in the complex correlation with Tan Son Nhat Airport and Bien Hoa Airport. This flight method has been approved and issued early by the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam and is ready to be applied synchronously from December 19, 2025.
In the upcoming technical flight, the aircraft will operate departure, arrival and approach methods according to standards, demonstrating VATM's ability in designing flight methods to meet the requirements of simultaneous operation of two large airports with geographical locations close together.

The team of air traffic controllers, technical staff, meteorological staff, flight procedures and search and rescue have all completed training and were assigned to work in shifts according to approved facilities exploitation documents.
The entire system of documents, processes and quality safety security plans have been developed and evaluated through many careful inspection rounds, complying with the latest and highest standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the Organization of airline service providers (CANSO).
The Long Thanh airport air traffic control tower has a lotus bud shape design, 123m high.
According to the schedule, the Long Thanh airport project must be basically completed and the first flight will be accepted on December 19, 2025.
