Mr. Nguyen Van Huong - Head of Weather Forecasting Department, National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that with the west-northwest movement, the circulation of this tropical depression will combine with southeast winds to cause a heavy rain in the Central region and then expanding to the North.
From the afternoon of July 15 to the afternoon of July 17 , the Northern Delta and coastal areas, Hoa Binh, the area from Thanh Hoa to Quang Tri, and the Central Highlands will have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, locally with very heavy rain.
Accordingly, the Northern Delta and coastal areas, Hoa Binh, Thanh Hoa to Quang Tri have a common rainfall of 60 - 120mm, locally over 200mm.
The Central Highlands region has a common rainfall of 40 - 80mm, locally over 150mm. Heavy rain concentrates in the afternoon and night.
In addition, on the night of July 15 and July 16, the Thua Thien Hue area to Quang Ngai and the South had showers and thunderstorms, locally in places with heavy to very heavy rain with rainfall from 15 - 30mm, locally in some places over 80mm. Rain concentrates in the afternoon and evening.
On the evening and night of July 17 , the Hoa Binh region, the Northern Delta and coastal region, and the North Central region had moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, with some places having very heavy rain with a common rainfall of 20 - 50mm, locally. Some places are over 80mm.
Also according to Mr. Nguyen Van Huong, due to the strong southwest monsoon activity in the Central Highlands and the South, there was moderate rain in the afternoon and evening of July 17, with some places having heavy to very heavy rain with common rainfall ranging from 15 - 30mm. Locally, there are places over 70mm.
"With the development of rain due to the circulation after the tropical depression, in the coming days, the western region from Thanh Hoa to Quang Nam and Quang Ngai is warned that flash floods and landslides may occur. In addition, the Central Highlands region is also the focus area where these dangerous natural disasters can occur" - Mr. Huong warned.
